Chris Coke Recounts Near-Death Experiences, Nipsey Collab, and New Beginnings

Rapper Chris Coke, who recently gained attention from hip-hop heavyweights like Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross, sat down with Bootleg Kev for a wide-ranging conversation on the Bootleg Kev Podcast. Coke discussed his upbringing in Phoenix, his unique experiences as an armed security guard and hunter, and his burgeoning music career, including an upcoming collaboration with the late Nipsey Hussle.


From Phoenix Streets to Colombian Music Videos


Coke, who hails from the west side of Phoenix, shared stories of his youth, including getting kicked out of the swap meet for entrepreneurial endeavors like selling mixtapes and fake shoes. "I got kicked out of that [expletive] like 25 times when I was a kid," Coke laughed.  He also discussed his involvement in the Latin hip-hop scene, highlighting his work with Colombian rapper Shorty Graham and the vibrant music scene in Colombia.    


"Tweaker Hunters" and Unexpected Dangers


Coke opened up about his past job as an armed security guard, where he worked as a "tweaker hunter," removing people on drugs from hotels and motels.  He recounted some of the harrowing experiences he encountered, stating, "There's some hurtful [expletive] with like kids and [expletive] that I've seen."    


Overcoming Adversity and Finding Success


Coke's path to success hasn't been without its challenges. He revealed that he's been shot five times on three separate occasions, and still carries a bullet in his groin.  "I got shot [expletive] like five times in three separate occasions," Coke shared.  Despite these setbacks, Coke has persevered, focusing on his music career and even landing a day job at Google.    


A Nipsey Hussle Collaboration and Future Aspirations


One of the most exciting revelations from the interview was Coke's upcoming song with Nipsey Hussle. "I got a song out with Nipsey Hussle," Coke announced.  He explained that they obtained a verse from the late rapper and worked with his team to secure the rights for the collaboration.  Coke also shared his aspirations beyond music, expressing his desire to make movies and TV shows once his music career reaches new heights.
